The Heritage Lions Club was originally chartered as the "Hessen Cassel" Lions Club on March 14, 1971 at the Hessen Cassel Community Hall. The Club was co-sponsored by the Cromwell-Kimmell and McMillen Park Lions Clubs. There were twenty-three charter members listed in good standing on charter night. The District Governor was Elmer Maucher.
At the first regular meeting succeeding the receiving the charter Lion Donald Sorg was elected President of the club. The meetings were held at the restaurant south of Monroeville Road on US 27. The facilities were inadequate for holding successful meeting and in the fall, we moved to the Three Kings restaurant in Hoagland.
